Villa di Poppea
Magnificent villa d’otium that belonged to Poppea Sabina, second wife of Emperor Nero.
The imperial residence covers an area of 10,000 square meters boasting some of the most beautiful frescoed walls in the entire Vesuvian area.
It is located between Vesuvius and the sea, shaded by the lush gardens which, thanks to the studies of the botanical archaeologist Wilhelmina Jashemski, have been faithfully reconstructed here.
It was brought to light in the 1960s, today it is included in the UNESCO heritage list.
